First, to collect the calcium carbonate from their main source (rocks such as limestone and marble as well as some minerals), you have to burn these rocks and minerals to create the powder. Then, bags of calcium carbonate powder and sugar are delivered to GlaxoSmithKline's Tums plant. The bags of calcium carbonate powder and sugar are then mixed with starch and water. The other ingredients are then added to give the tablets taste (See picture). Then a compressor is used to the mixture to make them into tablets, using almost five tons of force. The tablets are then packaged into groups of 24 (most of the time, for their regular size pack) and are put into groups or individual piles. They are then shipped off to the drug stores as well as any other place you would find this kind of product.
